CREATE A DESKTOP SHORTCUT TO AN SAP TRANSACTION

If you have not used this tip in a while, check it out as some new features were added during upgrades and enhancements. If you have a transaction you go to right after you log in to SAP, you can create a shortcut on your desktop to the transaction.  You can create shortcuts to any number of transactions.
  1. Go to the transaction for which you want to create the desktop shortcut.
  2. Click on the Customize Local Layout button (right-most button on the standard toolbar.
  3. Click on the Create Shortcut to... option.
  4. The Create New SAP Shortcut pop-up window is displayed.
  5. The text in the Title field will be used for naming the desktop shortcut. You can change this text to have a different name for the desktop shortcut that is created.  (TIP: It is a good idea to put the transaction code in the Title for easy recognition on your desktop.)
  6. In the Location field, select the location where you want your shortcut to be created, SAP Logon (inside the Logon Pad), Desktop, orBrowse to create it at another location.
  7. Click on the Finish button at the bottom right of the Create New SAP Shortcut pop-up window. If Desktop was selected for the location, a new desktop shortcut is created.
TIP: The name of the desktop shortcut can be changed after it is created.  You change it the same way you change any other Windows desktop shortcut.
Configurable Management LogoThe extension on SAP desktop shortcuts is .sap. Be sure not to change this extension if you are changing the name.  If you do, Windows will not know what application the desktop shortcut is associated with.  If you accidentally delete or change the extension, you can add it back by changing the name on the desktop shortcut and typing .sap on the end of the name.
